Buoys and Beacons

Buoys and beacons are aids to navigation installed to guide commercial mariners and boaters on open waters. Aids to navigation are systems or devices positioned on the water or shore that warn of dangers or obstacles, such as shallow waters and reefs.

These navigational aids can simply indicate the safest route for a vessel to follow. They also allow mariners to determine their position on the water and help identify the best course to reach their chosen destination.
